What is its accuracy?
The accuracy of my catapult is quite good. It made it onto the target almost every time we tried. It always goes straight, or in direction that it is shot towards.
What is its consistency?
My catapult's consistency is pretty consistent. It always goes in the correct direction and would hit the target at an average of four out of five times.
Improvements we made
To improve our catapult, we moved the arm of the catapult further until we were okay with how far it would launch the payload. We also made our catapult larger to accommodate larger payloads.
Notes on how the model works and how to make it better
Our catapult work by pushing down on the front of the lever, which will then propel the back up and forward, it will release and launch the payload into the air, towards the target. To get the best result; hit the front of the arm firmly so that it will go further. The harder you hit the arm the further the payload will go, but if you hit it way too hard the catapult may not the be able to stand the pressure.
How to ensure safe use of my catapult
When using the catapult don't put your hands in front of it, because you would be risking your hands being hit by the arm of the catapult, or the payload. Don't store things or hold onto the inside of the catapult because that would block the catapult from launching the payload and would hit your hand in the process, (if your hand was in the inside of the catapult).
What went well and what we could've done to improve it
We got the inspiration of our catapult from an image we found on the internet. We used certain things from the image and for everything else we improvised and tried different things to see what would work. We could have made the parts holding down the catapult stronger and sturdier. The catapult could be sturdier and move a bit less when being used to shoot. We could fix this problem by making the base heavier and stronger so that the arm won't be stronger than the rest of the catapult.
